Electoral Literacy Cell

An electoral literacy club is a group that promotes awareness and education about the electoral process. It helps people understand their voting rights and responsibilities.  Moreover, it also encourages active participation in the democratic process. This club organizes various activities such as workshops, seminars, and campaigns to educate individuals about voting rights, electoral procedures and the importance of exercising their franchise. By promoting electoral literacy, this club empowers citizens to make informed decisions and contribute to the democratic functioning of their country.

1 13th August, 2025 Oath taking ceremony     The event aimed to encourage students to exercise their right to vote and to create awareness about the importance of electoral participation in a democracy. During the ceremony, students took a collective oath to become responsible and informed voters, pledging to actively participate in the electoral process with integrity and awareness. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and served as a meaningful step towards fostering electoral literacy and civic responsibility among young citizens.
2 17th September, 2025 Logo making competition (Logocracy) The competition was judged by Dr. Jasveer Kaur (HOD Bio-Chemistry Department, GCG Ludhiana) 13 LOGOCRACY: where creativity meets democracy’ was organized by the Electoral Literacy Club of the college where 13 students participated and showcased their creativity and generated electoral awareness through innovative logo designs.

3 17th October, 2025 Short video Challenge   7 On the occasion of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty a short video making challenge was organized in which participants creatively expressed how responsible voting can contribute towards reducing poverty and promoting equality. The activity aimed to sensitize students about the power of voting as a tool for social and economic change.
4 20th January, 2026 Declamation Competition The event was judged by Assistant Professors, Mrs. Mandeep Kaur (English), Mrs. Kamaldeep Kaur (Punjabi), and Ms. Diksha (Library Department). 13 The competition was organized on the occasion of the 16th National Voters’ Day to promote voter awareness and understanding of citizens’ voting rights. A total of 13 students participated and shared their views on the theme “My India, My Vote.”The event witness enthusiastic participation and reflected the students’ commitment towards responsible citizenship.
5 25th January, 2026 16th National Voter's Day Sh. Kulpreet Singh, PCS, ADC Jagraon-cum-District SVEEP Nodal Officer, Ludhiana as the Chief Guest along with other major dignitaries.   The 16th National Voters’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, on 25th January 2026 to promote electoral awareness and democratic participation. The event was graced by Sh. Kulpreet Singh, PCS, ADC Jagraon-cum-District SVEEP Nodal Officer, Ludhiana as the Chief Guest along with other major dignitaries.
The programme featured thought-provoking speeches by students, patriotic songs, a prize distribution ceremony, and a voters’ pledge administered to encourage responsible voting. A proud moment for GCG as Mr. Harjot Singh from Physics Department received the best nodal officer award.
