Red Ribbon

The Red Ribbon Club is a youth-led movement that aims to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV (PLWH). The club was started by the Government of India in 1991 and is now active in schools and colleges across the country. Red Ribbon Clubs have a number of objectives, including Educating youth about HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Raising awareness about the risks of HIV transmission and how to prevent it, reducing stigma and discrimination against PLWH, promoting voluntary blood donation, Encouraging healthy lifestyles. Red Ribbon Clubs have been successful in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and in reducing stigma and discrimination against PLWH. They have also helped to increase the number of people who are aware of the risks of HIV transmission and how to prevent it.

1 11 August , 2023 Awareness Rally Regarding HIV AIDS Under the guidance of Principal Smt. Suman Latavolunteers enthusiastically took part in awarenessrally to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS displayinginformative posters. Dr. Tarunpreet Singh Thind,assistant professor of the PG department ofBotany served as a resource person of theactivity guiding the volunteers on infectionprotection.
2 12 August , 2023 International Youth Day Under the aegis of principal Mrs. Suman Lata ,Three NSS units 2023- 2024 commemorated International YouthDay in which all the volunteers participated with greatfervour. Students prepared Posters and slogans on thelife lessons given by Swami Vivekananda . An essay writingcompetition was also conducted for the students on thelife and history of Swami Ji.
3 12-13 August , 2023 Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign Under the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign of GoI, three NSS units commemorated 77th Independence Day. All the volunteers participated with great enthusiasm ,and had their pictures clicked with the Indian Tricolour Flag.
4 29 August , 2023 SWACHH BHARAT DRIVE/SPORTS DAY EVENTT Under the aegis of Principal Mrs. Suman Lata Ji, three NSS unit (2023-24) took pledge in the fond memory of “The wizard of hockey”, Major Dhayan Chand. Volunteers vowed to lead an active and healthy lifestyle and encourage their family members, friends and neighbours to stay fit and healthy. Volunteers also participate in skipping and tug of war competition to mark the occasion
5 15 August , 2023 Reel Making Competition Under the aegis of Honorable Principal Mrs. Suman Lata Ji Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, Red Ribbon Club took part in Reel making competition conducted by Punjab AIDS Control Society and Director of Youth services on topics HIV/AIDS Preventing and Control Act,2017 and Promotion of testing of HIV/AIDS. Volunteers enthusiastically participate in this activity. In this competition Red Ribbon Club of Government College for Girls secure 1st position in Ludhiana and 2nd position at Cluster level competition. These kinds of activities can raise awareness in society and potentially bring about positive changes.
6 2 October , 2023 Seminar/Painting/Slogan Writing/Cleanliness drive Under the aegis of Honorable Principal Mrs. Suman Lata Ji Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, three NSS Units (2023- 24) organised a one day camp to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Firstly volunteers undertook a cleanliness rally. Further a seminar was conducted and Dr. Tarunpreet Singh Thind (Msc. Hons) Ph.D PGDEM, Assistant Professor, PG Department Of Botany was the resource person for the same. The volunteers also embarked a Cleanliness drive and enthusiastically participated in the poster making and slogan writing competition organised on the theme Swachchta Hi Sewa. Dr. Charanjit Singh, Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, Ms. Sukhandeep Kaur and Mrs. Sarbjeet Gill also attended the event exuberantly. Health officers,Dr.Annie Grover and Dr. Lovepreet Singh were also present on the occasion and instructed students about health Benefits of a balanced diet.
7 24 November , 2023 Poster And Slogan Making  Competition A poster-making and slogan-writing competition was organized by the Department of Youth and Sports at BCM College of Education onNovember 24, 2023. 30 colleges from Ludhiana district participated, and volunteers from the Red Ribbon Society of Government College for Girls participated with great enthusiasm. Arashjot secured the 3rd position in the slogan-making competition. Such competitions contribute to raising awareness and enthusiasm among students for spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS, blood donation, and drug prevention
8 1 December, 2023 Slogan And Poster Making  Competition   Under the guidance of Principal Smt. Suman Lata Ji, the Red Ribbon Club conducted a poster and slogan- making competition on World AIDS Day. Volunteers actively engaged in this initiative, with Krishpreet Kaur securing the top spot in the poster-making contest and Komal Sharma claiming first place in the slogan- making competition. Such activities play a crucial role in raising awareness and fostering positivechange in society.
