Government College for Girls, Ludhiana

The Red Ribbon Club is a youth-led movement that aims to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV (PLWH). The club was started by the Government of India in 1991 and is now active in schools and colleges across the country. Red Ribbon Clubs have a number of objectives, including Educating youth about HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Raising awareness about the risks of HIV transmission and how to prevent it, reducing stigma and discrimination against PLWH, promoting voluntary blood donation, Encouraging healthy lifestyles. Red Ribbon Clubs have been successful in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and in reducing stigma and discrimination against PLWH. They have also helped to increase the number of people who are aware of the risks of HIV transmission and how to prevent it.

2	12 August , 2023	International Youth Day	Under the aegis of principal Mrs. Suman Lata ,Three NSS units 2023- 2024 commemorated International YouthDay in which all the volunteers participated with greatfervour. Students prepared Posters and slogans on thelife lessons given by Swami Vivekananda . An essay writingcompetition was also conducted for the students on thelife and history of Swami Ji.
3	12-13 August , 2023	Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign	Under the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign of GoI, three NSS units commemorated 77^th Independence Day. All the volunteers participated with great enthusiasm ,and had their pictures clicked with the Indian Tricolour Flag.
4	29 August , 2023	SWACHH BHARAT DRIVE/SPORTS DAY EVENTT	Under the aegis of Principal Mrs. Suman Lata Ji, three NSS unit (2023-24) took pledge in the fond memory of “The wizard of hockey”, Major Dhayan Chand. Volunteers vowed to lead an active and healthy lifestyle and encourage their family members, friends and neighbours to stay fit and healthy. Volunteers also participate in skipping and tug of war competition to mark the occasion
5	15 August , 2023	Reel Making Competition	Under the aegis of Honorable Principal Mrs. Suman Lata Ji Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, Red Ribbon Club took part in Reel making competition conducted by Punjab AIDS Control Society and Director of Youth services on topics HIV/AIDS Preventing and Control Act,2017 and Promotion of testing of HIV/AIDS. Volunteers enthusiastically participate in this activity. In this competition Red Ribbon Club of Government College for Girls secure 1st position in Ludhiana and 2nd position at Cluster level competition. These kinds of activities can raise awareness in society and potentially bring about positive changes.
6	2 October , 2023	Seminar/Painting/Slogan Writing/Cleanliness drive	Under the aegis of Honorable Principal Mrs. Suman Lata Ji Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, three NSS Units (2023- 24) organised a one day camp to mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Firstly volunteers undertook a cleanliness rally. Further a seminar was conducted and Dr. Tarunpreet Singh Thind (Msc. Hons) Ph.D PGDEM, Assistant Professor, PG Department Of Botany was the resource person for the same. The volunteers also embarked a Cleanliness drive and enthusiastically participated in the poster making and slogan writing competition organised on the theme Swachchta Hi Sewa. Dr. Charanjit Singh, Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, Ms. Sukhandeep Kaur and Mrs. Sarbjeet Gill also attended the event exuberantly. Health officers,Dr.Annie Grover and Dr. Lovepreet Singh were also present on the occasion and instructed students about health Benefits of a balanced diet.
7	24 November , 2023	Poster And Slogan Making Competition	A poster-making and slogan-writing competition was organized by the Department of Youth and Sports at BCM College of Education onNovember 24, 2023. 30 colleges from Ludhiana district participated, and volunteers from the Red Ribbon Society of Government College for Girls participated with great enthusiasm. Arashjot secured the 3rd position in the slogan-making competition. Such competitions contribute to raising awareness and enthusiasm among students for spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS, blood donation, and drug prevention
8	1 December, 2023	Slogan And Poster Making Competition	Under the guidance of Principal Smt. Suman Lata Ji, the Red Ribbon Club conducted a poster and slogan- making competition on World AIDS Day. Volunteers actively engaged in this initiative, with Krishpreet Kaur securing the top spot in the poster-making contest and Komal Sharma claiming first place in the slogan- making competition. Such activities play a crucial role in raising awareness and fostering positivechange in society.

All the volunteers participated enthusiastically and successfully promoted cleanliness, sanitation, and community service. Through this initiative, awareness on sanitation and hygiene was significantly enhanced, fostering a cleaner and healthier environment. The campaign's impact was evident in the transformed public spaces and the community's renewed commitment.
04	25-09-2024	Remarkable feat in state-level reel making competition	4	The Red Ribbon Club has achieved a remarkable feat by securing 2nd position in the state-level reel making competition. The event was organized byGovernment College, Ropar, in collaboration with Punjab State AIDS Control Society. Our team, comprising Isha Pandey (President, Red Ribbon Club), Sehajnoor Kaur, and Diksha,demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, competing against 15 colleges at the district level and ranking among the top 5. Later they achieved 2 position at the State- Level. The team’s innovative and impactful reel highlighted the importance of prevention, detection, and combating stigma associated with HIV/AIDS, impressing the judges and audience alike. We extend our gratitude to Program Officer Dr. Sukhandeep Kaur for her mentorship and guidance, which played a pivotal role in the team’s success.
05	27-09-2024	Advocacy meeting	45	The Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with Director, Youth Services, Punjab conducted District level Advocacy meeting of Red Ribbon Club. Our Chief Guest Mr Davinder Singh Lotte were floral welcomed by Dr. Sukhandeep and Mrs. Nivedita mam. He gave insights intovarious domains of RED RIBBON CLUB followed by powerful speech on drug awareness. Continuing the event, Dr. Poonam Kapoor also enlightened the volunteers about HIV AIDS awareness and Cheques were distributed to RRC of various colleges, winning colleges of Reel making competitions were alsogiven cheques. At last, Respected Madam Principal Mrs. Suman Lata Ji was presented with a token of love by ourrespected chief guest and program officer Dr. Sukhandeep and Mrs. Nivedita. The event commenced with a blood donation awareness pledge to promote voluntary blood donation.Further the volunteers undertook a rally, where participants carried banners and placards emphasizing the importance of blood donation and encouraged donors, highlighting the lifesaving impact. 07	02-10-2024	Swachhta Diwas	40	The Red Ribbon Club celebrated Swachhta Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji. The event commenced with garland ceremony followed by a pledge on Swacchta Hi Sewa. Cleanliness drive was also organised to foster the sense of clean and green surroundings among volunteers. Poster making competition was conducted on the same theme. TheYuva Kendra distributed caps and diaries to the volunteers and encouraged them to actively participate in clean India mission. The event featured iconic Mahima Chaudhary mam spreading knowledge about breast cancer through her illuminating speech. 11	18-11-2024	Outdoor campaign on HIV- AIDS awareness in a village	50	The Red Ribbon Club 2024-25 executedan outdoor campaign on HIV/AIDS awareness in Chak Sarwan Nath Village, Ludhiana. The campaign included fulfilling activities:Awareness Rally emphasising breaking the stigma of HIV/AIDS, Door to Door campaign highlighting the causes, symptoms and preventive measures for HIV/ AIDS. Through their creativity, students highlighted key aspects such as breaking the stigma around mental health, supporting one another, and maintaining emotional balance in daily life.
43	23.09.25	Advocacy Meeting	60	The Red Ribbon Club (2025-26) hosted the Advocacy Meeting of Red Ribbon Club Coordinators under the guidance of Youth Services Department. Red Ribbon Club coordinators from different colleges attended the event. The program began with aspeech by our Treasurer, Gurleen Kaur Khangura, on the topic “Red Ribbon Club: ItsFoundation and Impact.” A floral welcome was then extended to Mr Davinder Singh Lotey (Deputy Director, Youth Services) and Dr. Saroj from the Civil Hospital. The Deputy Director Mr. Davinder Singh Lotey officially commenced the meeting and addressed the gathering on important issues such as HIV/AIDS awareness, blood donation, and drug abuse. Dr. Sarioj also enlightened the gathering on the grim issue of HIV/AIDS Spread and the stigma surrounding the issue. She highlighted the alternatives and the remedies to prevent the spread of the disease too.Later, each college Red Ribbon Club received funds of ₹7,000 to support their activities. The event concluded with a lunch served to all the coordinators. The entire program was successfully conducted under the guidance of our Red Ribbon Club coordinators, Dr. Sukhandeep Ma’am and Manpreet Ma’am.

The competition not only provided a platform for self-expression but also inspired everyone present to stand against drug abuse and promote the vision of a healthy, drug-free community.

This initiative of the Red RibbonClub truly reinforced the message that awareness and understanding are the strongest tools in the fight against HIV-AIDS.

The puzzle was designed in such a way that it reflected the harmful impacts and destructive nature of drug abuse, thereby encouraging students to think deeply about the issue while engaging in the activity. As part of the celebration, a Donation Day was organized where volunteers came together to donate items wholeheartedly such as clothes, utensils, stationery, dry ration, and toys etc. and contributed something towards the welfare of the underprivileged. 60	10.1025	Seminar on HIV AIDS awareness	35	the Red Ribbon Club successfully concluded its60-day intensified campaign on HIV-AIDS Awareness with an enlightening Seminar on HIV-AIDS Awareness conducted by Dr. Tarunpreet Singh. The session aimed to spread awareness and educate students about the key aspects of HIV-AIDS, including its causes, modes of transmission, preventive measures, and the importance of eliminating stigma associated with the disease. The speaker shared valuable insights and practicalknowledge, encouraging participants to become responsible individuals who contribute to building a more aware and compassionate society. The seminar proved to be highly interactive and informative, leaving students motivated to spread the message of awareness further. To mark the end of this impactful campaign, a token of love and appreciation was presented to Dr. Tarunpreet Singh by our club coordinator Dr. Sukhandeep Kaur for his time and efforts towards promoting health education and awareness.

62	26.01.26	Republic Day celebration	45	the Red Ribbon Club and the Gender Champion Club jointly celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26th January 2026 with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The event began with the Flag Unfurling Ceremony, in which all volunteers, faculty members, and students participated wholeheartedly. The Honourable Principal Ma’am addressed the gathering and delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of the Indian Constitution, the values of unity, equality, and justice, and the role of youth in building a responsible and inclusive nation. She encouraged students to remain disciplined, socially aware, and committed to national development. The programme created a sense of pride and responsibility among the volunteers. The celebration concluded with the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with patriotism and respect for the nation.
