In equivalence to the science subjects, the humanities programmes also have great significance in the society. Thus the college intends to produce graduates who are competent enough for different professions. The Bachelor of Arts at the college is a three years full time study programme consisting of six semesters. The college offers 26 elective programmes and students are to choose 2 compulsory subjects- English and Punjabi as part of degree programme. The curriculum includes a broad range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses across the college with a strong focus on aspects of human culture and developments in social and behavioural sciences. Degree in Humanities is focused on improving student’s knowledge and critical thinking skills in different areas such as Literature,History,Economics,Political Science, Sociology, Philosophy and Psychology. The broad aim of the course is to provide students with a basic knowledge in their chosen areas of studies, the ability to apply the knowledge they have acquired, the ability to communicate effectively, work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, the skills to connect across geographically, disciplinary, socially, economically and culturally to understand the value of ethics in one’s life. Many of our students have excelled in various fields and have attained higher positions IAS, IPS, PCS, IRS, Chartered Accountants, and got selected in defense forces, banking sector, corporate sector and have joined as Journalists, Radio Jockey’s, News-readers, Event managers under Mass Media. Some of our students are also pursuing higher education at National and International level in various prestigious Institutions and are also running their own Academies and imparting advanced coaching to aspirants.
