Environment and Swachh Society

Environment and swachh society of Government College for Girls Ludhiana aims to create awareness among students and masses regarding the importance of environment. Various activities like Van Mahotsav, Plantation Drive, Green and Clean Diwali and Cleanliness Drives are organized throughout the session to sensetise students regarding various environmental issues, so as to inculcate in them the qualities of a responsible citizen. Students are encouraged to avoid activities causing environmental degradation and adopt nature friendly lifestyle.

Van Mahotsav Day  7th July, 2022 GCG Campus The event was graced by principal mam and other staff members. A rally was marched in the premises promoting afforestation. Bountiful saplings were planted in the college garden by respected Principal Mam. 
Ozone day and PPT competition  16th September, 2022 Rusa Seminar Hall  The event took place in the college premises highlighting the significance of the need of protecting the ozone layer. Alongside, the society's installation ceremony took place where all the members were provided with their post badges.
Clean and Green Diwali Rally  17th October, 2022 GCG Campus A rally was carried out in the campus making tutees aware of the importance of playing a safe and clean Diwali in order to protect the environment. 
Diwali Celebration 21st October, 2022  Auditorium An event was held in the college auditorium. The function was inaugurated with an auspicious lamp lightning ceremony by our worthy Principal mam and senior staff members. A couple of performances were presented by eves to grace the occasion.
Essay Writing Competition  20th February, 2023 Zoology Department Essay writing competition was held by environment and swachh society at GCG Campus in zoology lab on 20th Feb 2023 on the topic of ‘Environment issues and road safety’.
Closing Ceremony 13th March, 2023 Auditorium A Workshop was organized on "Vermicomposting techniques and practices" which was delivered by Dr. S.S. Hundal Ji Professor (retd.) former head of Dept. of Zoology PAU Ludhiana on the closing ceremony of environment and Swachh Society. The programme started with the floral welcome of the Guest by Resp. Principal Mrs. Suman Lata ji. Certificates were given to the winners of different activities and also to the office bearers. Last but not least college Principal Mrs. Suman Lata ji thanked the guest and graced the event with her peroration. 
Marathon Run for Environment 27th March,2023 GCG Campus Government college for girls organized a Marathon Run for environment and humanity in which MLA Gurpreet Gogi ji came as chief guest and Principal Suman Lata ji also accompanied the students at the Marathon.

Prevents and control of paddy straw burning  26th August 2023 GCG Campus

The Environment and Swachh Society of Government College for Girls organized a dynamic and impactful event aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of stubble burning. This event, consisting of a green awareness rally and a compelling nukkad natak, united students, teachers, and the esteemed Madam Principal in a collective effort to promote sustainable practices.

The Environment and Swachh Society spearheaded an event engaging 97  students in QR code-driven environmental awareness activities. This event marked the beginning of a  broader effort to make our college more eco-friendly and sustainable

The Ozone Day rally was a vibrant and engaging event that drew the participation of students, faculty, and staff members. The rally aimed to educate and sensitize the participants and the public about the importance of ozone preservation and sustainable environmental practices.

A notable highlight of the fair was participation of 4 students from GCG who showcased there innovative project under compelling theme of "Ludhiana our Dream city".These projects anchored major issues like waste management, cleaning of buddha darya  , pollution in city and was a success in engaging farmers and general public in fair.

A District-level Vana Mahotsav celebration was organised in collaboration with the Department of Forest and Wildlife Conservation. The programme included Ganesh Vandana, student speeches, poem, skit and an energetic Bhangra performance. Saplings were planted by the guests and faculty, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and responsibility towards nature.
 2  16  SEPTEMBER 2025  Rally and poster making on Ozone day   ---- Ozone Day was celebrated to spread awareness about ozone layer protection.Students participated in a rally with informative slogans and a poster-making activity highlighting ozone depletion and environmental conservation. The programme encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute responsibly towards environmental protection

  ---- Diwali celebration was organised in the college campus. Activities such asDiya decoration, Rangoli making, and Poster making were conducted, with an emphasis on promoting aGreen Diwali. A Diwali Fest with creative stalls showcasing handmade items further added to the festive spirit.
 4  9  FEBRUARY  2026  Debate Competition   ---- Debate Competition was organised in college on the topic "Our Smart Cities — AreThey Really BecomingSustainable and Cleaner?" Students presented their views both in favour of and against the motion, discussing advancements in cleanliness and green energy as well as concerns such as pollution and waste management. The event was informative and concluded with prize distribution and a vote of thanks.
