Economics department has been established in the year 1943, this subject is the most sought after subject among students as it has been popular among students who want to excel in various competitions. Its vision has been learning and understanding of Economics, which is the guiding principle for the development of a society. It facilitates a sustainable and inclusive development of the nation by harnessing the potentialities emerging from the knowledge-based globalizing society for the welfare of mankind. The department of ECONOMICS offers courses that will ensure that students will be helpful and able to contribute the society. The department encourages girl students to become self-reliant, and economically empower them by providing knowledge of economic issues concerning their daily life. Department also encourages students to participate in the learning experience through participation in classroom, Students oriented seminars and other related. It has various programmes to offer such as BA, BCOM, and BA Honours in Economics. The department has well Qualified Teachers with higher degrees such as MA Eco, UGC, NET and PHD. It has three assistant professors who enable students to fulfil their dreams. The department has also Department Library for the students. The department has Economics society known as Planning Forum which provides students opportunities to improve and enhance their knowledge and skills.
