About the Department:
The vocal music department of the GCG, Ludhiana was started in the year 1953. The department offers Music vocal as an elective in BA Programme as well as an Honors degree. Our vision and mission is to connect the students with our national and regional roots to preserve our cultural heritage. The department focuses on training students in Indian Classical Music along with enhancing their skills in folk music, light classical music, Shabad / Bhajans etc. They are trained by faculty who are acclaimed professionals in this industry. We have invested in state of the art infrastructure which includes a DTH TV , projector screens, a well-furnished departmental lab with traditional Instruments as well as latest electronic Instruments. We have also maintained a small departmental library. The students have brought laurels to the college by being recognized in different genres of music by winning top positions, Roll of Honours, Gold Medals and Trophies at various university and inter-university level. Our distinguished alumni are now renowned artists in the music Industry with various music albums, YouTube covers and other projects credited to their names.
