ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

History is the study of change over time, and it covers all aspects of human society. Political, Social, Economic, Scientific, technological, medical, cultural, intellectual, religious and military developments are all part of history.

Department of History has been established since 1943 in premises of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana (affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh). Our vision aims at providing a comprehensive Bachelor of Arts program with History as a major subject besides it focus on preparing the students for careers that are involved in research, synthesis and analysis. It embarks on the mission to groom the students eligible and competent for all the national level competitions and examinations. History Department is doing its best in preparing students for various competitions, The Teachers of History Department also meet the classes of History and Culture of Punjab (HCP) an alternative course for students for whom Punjabi is not their mother tongue. The Department also regularly conducts trips to historical places so that students are able to appreciate the glorious heritage of India. History Department has its own library with lots of History books. History Department have two faculty members.
