Department of Physics
Department of Physics was established in 1962. Since then department is serving college by providing quality education in the subject. The Physics department is a vital and dynamic part of any academic institution, typically found within universities or colleges. It focuses on the study of the fundamental principles governing the behavior of matter, energy, space, and time. Physics is a diverse and interdisciplinary field that encompasses a wide range of topics, from classical mechanics and electromagnetism to quantum mechanics, relativity, astrophysics, and beyond. The department is working with the mission to awaken young minds and discover their talents by providing them with best possible learning experiences through dedication to teaching, commitment to students and innovative instructional methods. The vision is to make Physics department a place ‘where today’s students meet tomorrow’s opportunities’. This department typically boasts state-of-the-art laboratories, experimental setups, and specialized equipment to support both teaching and practical activities. The department has three labs with two dark rooms fully equipped with updated equipments. Department has its own library consisting of more than 150 books which are given to needy students. Every year our students bag many positions in University exams. In latest exams conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh, our student Arsha bagged 1st, Sakshi 4th, Supriya Grover and Nakitika 5th and Navpreet Kaur 10th position in B.Sc. III Nonmedical. This speaks volume about the working environment of department.
Activities:
Instrumental Rangoli: A Rangoli competition was organized based on the instruments related to Physics and questions related to the application of the instrument were asked. The aim of the activity was to increase the knowledge of students about instruments.
PPT Competition: An online PPT competition was organized for the students on the topic “Chandrayan-3-launching to landing”. The aim of the activity was to aware students about the Chandrayan-3 mission.
Open Book Activity: Students were asked few questions in the given time and they had to find answers from book. This aim of the activity was to check their spontaneity to answer.
Seminars: Students were given topics related to their syllabus for which they gave presentation in class. The aim of the activity was to prepare important topics well for upcoming exams.
